This blog is dedicated to exploring a concept that I explored as a TEDx talk on Feb 13th, 2014. This was my ‘inaugural’ talk on this concept after almost a year of thinking, writing and researching it with a number of colleagues, friends and family. The short synopsis or ‘elevator pitch’ of the concept is — Horizontal passion pulls you into amazing things in life and simply gives you more options to pursue — And that this ‘passion’ is definable via a formula that anyone can learn. Here is a pic from the TEDx event.

Over the next couple of months I’ll post on how this idea came to be and the journey to my TEDx talk in early ’14 at an event in my hometown Chatham-Kent Ontario, Canada. I encourage all of you following or reading this to comment & reply to the posts debating and challenging the concept for that I believe everything can be improved and we as a collective can all learn from each other.
My short term plan is to blog about my year long journey to the TEDx talk until the video is available on ted.com — which should be the May’ish ’14 timeframe. Once the video is up I’ll then start posting about my personal and professional life experiences on how the formula has worked and just maybe provoke other bloggers to post on their ‘passion formula’ related experiences. Maybe the passion formula will simply get re-enforced…maybe it might get enhanced/expanded…perhaps it’ll change — regardless I’m looking forward to exploring it further with you.
Why a blog? Since the TEDx event on Feb 13th (http://tedxchathamkent.com), I’ve been approached by many for that they are intrigued on the concept and of course the formula — but to my surprise, many also wanted to understand how this concept came to be and my drivers to do the TEDx talk. These are interesting conversations and I think it’s worth sharing for that I’ve realized:
* The topic of passion being a definable formula sparks great conversations & debates.
* The journey crafting the TEDx talk was as enjoyable as the day itself.
* I believe anyone can do it. Meaning a TED/TEDx talk or being horizontally passionate.
With that I’ll leave you hanging until my next blog post…which will start telling the journey of how it all started on a long flight back from Tel Aviv…(next post is up, read now!)
